I’ve been maintaining my portfolio site in one form or another since 2013. From learning as I go, the years have really bogged it down with hi-res images and files for unused themes, so I decided to start fresh. Unfortunately, in doing that I flushed out the database and lost the past four or five years of blog posts.
It’s not the end of the world. I’d written a handful of stories that received a significant amount of traffic, but they were far from evergreen content.
Going forward, I’m going to try to take better care of the blog and the portfolio, until one day, I can afford to pay someone to build the site for me.
If I ever manage to figure out how to get the old database rolled into this one, I’d be thrilled. Luckily, starting over is a chance to tighten up some of the elements that had been functional and not perfect.
